Coolest Guy on Planet?
No, not really. Just an ordinary bloke living in the sunny(hot and humid) island of Singapore · making a living on the internet publishing websites · charging exorbitant fees to get your website ranked number one in google and yahoo. And over here, try to act like a cool seo bugger - oops! I mean blogger.

The Best of Web Marketing

"Build a Better Web Site and The World Will Beat A Path To Your Door"

Here I am going to write a short article on how you can reach your global marketplace with web marketing.

World Internet Mega Summit Singapore 2007 Day 4

Here's what happened on Day 4...

World Internet Mega Summit Singapore 2007 Day 3

It's been a tiring day and I am really to tired to write. So here's some pictures of Day 3 instead.

Presentation by Yahoo SEA Ewen Chia and his 5-Step Proven system WIS 2007 Day 3 Lelong

World Internet Mega Summit Singapore 2007 Day 2

I missed the morning session which featured Armand Morin. I asked a couple of the participants what they thought about Armand's presentation and the replies were the same - very information and very powerful. Of course, many people signed up for his program which he promoted at the end his presentation. The Armand program costs nearly $3,700.

World Internet Summit Singapore 2007 Day 1

World Internet Summit Day 1
My first day at the World Internet Mega Summit Singapore 2007. It's a 4-day event. By my "guesstimate", I believe there were more than 1,000 people in the event!

I had the impression that the WIS was an event packed with Internet marketing gurus peddling their programs and software for 4 solid days. Yes, there was selling but not that pervasive. Brett McFall was doing soft selling. And Tom Hua was just selling the speakers and keep the participants aware of the event schedule.

In fact, the other speakers were talking about advance marketing concepts - the sort of stuff you could expect from marketing guru Jay Abraham.

And then there is Mark Joyner. What he spoke blew my mind. He discussed about why online businesses which relied solely on selling to their email list may not be a sustainable business model. What the Godfather of Internet marketing said basically is killing the idea of "the money is in the list".

Why?

Because, you want to build your online business on consistent traffic that grows over time. And you want your web traffic chart to look like this.

And not like this, which is a typical web traffic driven by emailing to a list of subscribers.

The list-based business model will eventually fail if you do not grow your list but only focus on selling more products to your existing list.

WIS Success Story

And there was this success story by Tracy Repchuk. Very inspiring success story. Don't know who she is? She wrote the Amazon best-seller 31 Days to Millionaire Marketing Miracles.

I thought this is really cool. And fun too. Play a tune by fingering clicking the 8 bikini babes.

M1 Broadband USB Modem

M1 Broadband USB Modem
In order for me to work at Punggol Park, I will need internet connection. Otherwise, how to make a blog post to Blogger.com?

Even though there is the free Wireless@SG at Hougang Mall, I don't think there is signal at Punggol Park.

So I am looking into the M1 Broadband service using 3G and not Wi-Fi. M1 launched the service in Dec 2006 and all the modems were snapped up within a short time.

The broadband USB modem looks pretty sleek. It is compact and draws power from the computer USB port. This is great! No need to worry about replacing battery or recharging.

There are 3 usage plans:

  1. $22 per month / access speed up to 384kbps

  2. $38 per month / access speed up to 1800kbps

  3. $68 per month / access speed up to 3600kbps

The monthly fee includes 5GB of free data transfer. Additional bandwidth cost $4/GB. Details at M1 Broadband Plans webpage.

However, I wonder 5GB means upload and download volume or download only?

M1 Broadband coverage 1.8Mbps/3.6Mbps in Singapore3G/HSPDA up to 3.6Mbps

Actually, $22 per month is affordable. But 384kbps may be too slow for someone who is used to cable broadband speed. I just have to slow down a bit when working at the park!

Anyway, I will be using it out outside CBD where the speed is up to 3.6Mbps. For the rest of Singapore island, it's 1.8Mbps maximum. So there's really no point in pay a hefty $68 per month.

5GB Free Data Bundle

I guess if I just used it to post to this blog everyday for an hour or so, 5GB is sufficient. Even it I busted the free data bundle limit, it's just $4 for an additional GB.

SIM Card and 6 Months Contract

You will have to pay $26.25 for a SIM card to be used with the USB modem. Also, you need to commit to a 6 months service contract. So you need to have about $160 including the $22 monthly fee for 6 months.

To get started, you either call 1800-8438383 or visit the M1 Shop because the online order redirects to a promotion page and then you need to "Find out how to shop"!!! So better go to one of these M1 Shops - it's probably quicker.
